Community Guidelines
Last updated 14 October 2026.
WHAM is a place to understand what is happening in India and talk about it openly. Disagreement is welcome. Harm is not. These rules apply to posts, replies, quotes, polls, images, videos, profiles and usernames.
Not allowed
- Violence and threats. Threatening, inciting or celebrating violence, or glorifying terrorism.
- Hate and harassment. Attacking people for religion, caste, community, region, language, gender, sexuality, disability or similar traits; targeted harassment, doxxing (sharing private addresses, numbers or documents) and brigading.
- Child safety. Any sexual content involving minors, or content that exploits or endangers children. We report this to the authorities.
- Sexual content. Pornography and explicit sexual material.
- Self-harm. Encouraging suicide or self-harm.
- Illegal activity. Selling illegal goods, fraud, scams, and content that is unlawful in India.
- Harmful misinformation. Deliberately false claims likely to cause real-world harm, such as fake emergency notices, fake medical claims during a crisis, or content meant to incite panic or unrest.
- Impersonation. Pretending to be a person, organisation, ministry, department or news outlet. Claiming to be official without being verified.
- Spam and manipulation. Fake accounts, copy-pasted posts, coordinated posting to push a hashtag into trends, bought engagement, and repeated unwanted links.
- Misuse of alerts. Emergency alerts are only for genuine emergencies and only from authorised accounts.
What is fine
Criticising governments, parties, companies, public figures and ideas; satire that is clearly satire; sharing news with its source; asking questions. Politics is welcome. WHAM does not take political sides and does not rank posts by viewpoint.
Reporting and blocking
Use the report option on any post or profile and choose a category. You can also mute or block an account, which takes effect immediately. Reports are reviewed by people and the reporter is not shown to the person reported.
What we do
Depending on how serious or repeated the problem is, we may remove content, restrict an account's features, suspend it for a time, or permanently remove it. Serious or unlawful content may be reported to the authorities.
Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal from the notice you receive, or email prathamagg02@gmail.com with your username and what happened. A different reviewer looks at it where possible.
